Hematology
Toronto’s Pediactric Hematology Specialists
Caring for Children with Blood-Related Conditions: Pediatric hematologists are doctors who specialize in children’s blood health. At Kindercare’s Benign Pediatric Hematology Clinic, we help children and adolescents with blood conditions that are not related to cancer—like low iron, anemia, easy bruising, bleeding or unusual blood test results. Our hematology clinic is here to gently guide families through diagnosis, investigations, counselling, treatment, and follow-up care with compassion and expertise.
Diagnosing Blood Concerns: They’re experts at figuring out why a child might be pale, bruising easily, or showing unusual results on blood tests. They look at lab tests like red and white blood cell counts, platelets, and clotting factors to understand what’s going on.
Doing Specialized Blood Tests: To get a clear picture, they may order further blood work including specialist hematology tests. These help them diagnose conditions like anemia, G6PD deficiency, or clotting disorders with accuracy and care.
Creating Personalized Treatment Plans: Once they know what’s causing the issue, they build a plan tailored to the child’s needs. This might include lifestyle changes, iron supplements, or monitoring over time. In some cases, they may recommend further testing or referrals to other specialists.
Supporting and Educating Families: They take time to explain everything clearly—what the condition means, what to expect, and how to manage it at home if needed. Whether it’s helping with iron-rich meal ideas or understanding a lab result, they’re here to help.
