Circumcision

Toronto’s Neonatal Circumcision Specialists

About Neonatal Circumcision

Circumcision is an optional surgical procedure to remove the layer of skin (called the foreskin or the prepuce) that covers the head (glans) of the penis. It is most often done during the first few days/weeks after birth.

Routine circumcision is not a medically necessary procedure but some parents may decide to circumcise their newborns for religious, social or cultural reasons. If you are trying to make a decision about circumcision, talk to your baby’s health care provider.
