Rae is a Toronto Pediatrician who has trained and practiced in Immunology/Allergy and Bone Marrow Transplant Medicine. She noted that community pediatricians often lack time and resources to offer counselling and advocacy to children with complex needs who are cared for outside of the hospital environment. In collaboration with Dr. Cynthia Goldfarb, Rae is now starting a practice that offers these services in a community-based setting to families of children with developmental, psychological, and learning issues. The clinic, which will operate once a week, will offer counselling around therapeutic options, school choices and accessing educational support, navigating government services and financial assistance, and family coping strategies. These services, covered by the Ministry of Health, will be oriented specifically towards families in financial need.
