Yesterday, Julie M Green Blogged this piece (on Erica Ehm’s yummymummyclub.ca) about a former Australian Vogue editor who unveiled, in her new book, the horrifying and medically precarious lives of models – so many of whom struggle with eating disorders – trying to become and stay thin enough to matter.

Eating disorders are horrifying, devastating, sometimes lethal, and on the rise.  I place an immense amount of the blame for this on the fashion industry’s unrealistic depiction and perpetuation of ‘thin’ as beautiful.

Having read Julie’s piece, I thought of this video. If anyone ever doubted the extent to which fashion magazines can alter images to derange our perceptions and distort our cognitive models of beauty, this video should settle it.
